About Petit Plouf

Petit Plouf is pronounced Puh-tee Ploof. "Petit" means little in French and “Plouf” is an onomatopoeia for that fun splashy sound you make when jumping into the water!

Our whānau is multicultural, and we embrace both our origins and the whenua (land) we call home. Our children are half French, so when it came time to choosing a name, Petit Plouf felt just right. Together, the name captures everything we love about this brand: little ones, big splashes, and carefree summer days spent safely under the Aotearoa sun.

We are proudly based in Auckland, New Zealand. At our core, we are dedicated to protecting our tamariki (children) with sun-safe, water-safe full-length swimwear sunsuits that are distinctly Kiwiana in design and made from recycled materials.

Our swimwear has been inspired by all the things that make Aotearoa a special place to live. From the whenua, tangata (people), flora, and fauna, we aim to embrace all of these elements in our products. Our designs include the iconic Pōhutukawa, the Gannets at Muriwai, Kina and our resilient bird, Takahē.

At Petit Plouf, we know the Kiwi sun can be harsh and unforgiving, especially on our tamariki’s skin. That’s why we offer UPF50+ swimwear sunsuits that fully cover the arms and legs. Additionally, our sunsuits are bright to help with visibility in the water. Without having to constantly reapply sunscreen, even safer if paired with our wide-brimmed hat, you can rest assured that your tamariki is safer playing in the sun.

We embody the values of sustainability and ethical practices; therefore, we have chosen to use recycled materials and ensure that our products are free from harmful chemicals. Our chosen fabric is made from REPREVE® recycled polyester, and both the fabric and the ink used for printing are OEKO-TEX® certified.

Petit Plouf sunsuits are made to last, designed to be worn, loved, and then passed on. When your little one has outgrown theirs, pass it along to another family to keep the adventure going.

Our products are made at a small family-owned manufacturing business in Vietnam.
